Everyone always says you need to network to be successful in business. But let’s get real, how many breakfasts, lunches, and dinners can you attend on a weekly basis? Networking, while important and even rewarding, takes time and energy. Both resources can be in limited supply for busy Entrepreneurs. The good news is that you can network effectively from your home, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Making LinkedIn Work For You
In almost 10 years of teaching LinkedIn workshops, I’ve found that professionals and business owners have 3 top reasons for ignoring LinkedIn. In my workshops, I teach strategies to overcome these top barriers and make LinkedIn a thriving sales pipeline:
My profile is terrible – Having a powerful profile is the baseline of all other LinkedIn strategies. When you take the time to complete your profile, your brand becomes clear and that benefits you across all of your marketing efforts. Here is a tip: You don’t have to complete the entire profile at once!
I don’t know what to say – Even when business owners get a connection request from someone they are dying to speak to, they agonize over the right words and don’t take action. Having “scripts” ready in advance eliminates paralysis and allows you to quickly engage your target market with confidence.
It Takes Too Much Time – Not if you have a plan! Like any social network, LinkedIn can be overwhelming unless you learn which areas matter most. Key LinkedIn navigation skills and a customized plan allow you to efficiently market your business.
Network 24/7 on LinkedIn
Learning about LinkedIn is more than figuring out which buttons to click. It’s about knowing what you want to say and who you want to say it to. The best part is that you can do this at any time of day from your computer or mobile device. You choose how much time to invest. When you have a plan in place, you can even network via LinkedIn while waiting in line at the grocery store!
I look forward to sharing strategies that you can use to take bold action and make the most of every interaction on LinkedIn at the Focus on Entrepreneurs Conference April 27-28. These strategies ensure you never miss an opportunity to engage with a connection and allow you to better use LinkedIn for prospecting and growing your client/referral base – even at 3 AM in your pajamas.
